Welcome to our November LiveWire.

As the festive season approaches thoughts will turn to the Christmas Party you may be interested to hear that recent survey has highlighted that only about 1/3 of firms meet the entire cost of the Xmas bash.

If you are one of these generous firms remember that the tax man only allows a maximum tax free spend of £150 per head on annual functions such as the Christmas party. If the expenditure is in excess of this, the entire amount of the function(s) will be taxed on the individual employees unless you agree with the tax man to bear the cost of this.

On a separate matter we are putting the finishing touches to a series of podcasts on various topical tax issues. We will send out a special edition of LiveWire shortly with more details so MP3 players to the ready and watch this space.

As ever we would love to hear from you if there are any topics you would like to see featured in future editions of LiveWire!

Kind regards

Lesley Stalker
