Capital Gains Tax for the
Property Investor
From April 5th 2008, capital gains tax (CGT) is being reduced from 40% to 18%. This means anyone selling a property which is not their main residence, will pay a reduced rate of (CGT). Good news for many, but the new rules exclude previous allowances such as indexation and could mean higher tax bills in spite of the highly publicised reduced rates.
